The Fifty United Plates

My dear friends Kaitlyn and Ryan are quite the creative duo and the talent behind the beautiful Corbe' Company.  They have launched their first Kickstarter project and I think they would make amazing wedding gifts!

Working with fine porcelain they are crafting all 50 states into baking dishes.  Here's the story straight from their mouths:

"We are raising funds to take all 50 of these United States of America and re-create them in fine porcelain. They are made to scale with one another and fit seamlessly with their neighbor to form the entire nation. Their uses are plentiful; baking dish, serving tray, conversation piece, collecting tray, tapas plate, etc. They can act as stand alone state plates, pieced together as regions on your dinner table, or hand picked to be the places that mean the most to you. When we have them all finished we will throw the ultimate dinner party where a great dish from each state will join the spread to create The Fifty United Plates. We've saved you a seat."

Help them out and receive some beautiful goodies, including a state plate of your choice...and 2 more for those upcoming weddings!  I guarantee you'll want to move to an island and become a potter.  In fact I may need to come back and blog their island wedding last September ;)

Thanks for the comments on my last post, I was happy to see the blog is not dead yet ;)

DIY embroidery hoop ring pillow

Hello there...anyone still following this little blog?

I was perusing Etsy...after not having steady internet for the past 6 months...and came across this adorable ring bearer pillow that could easily be done up in just about any fabric, pattern or what say you.  How about your grandmother's vintage hankie stretched across it?  So many possibilties!  Or you can just buy it from Etsy seller The Papery Nook because I'm sure they'd appreciate that too...and it is quite lovely so you can't go wrong!

pegboard table runner

I love this clever runner idea seen on Style Me Pretty using a metal or wood pegboard.  Isn't it beautiful?  It's like a field of flowers down the center of your table!

lace stenciled monogram

My best friend Shannon was married this weekend and it was one of the prettiest weddings I have ever been to!  I helped her with a few projects to relieve some stress.  One of them were these letters for the fireplace mantel at the venue.

Originally she had planned to wrap the letters in yarn, but once she started she passed it on to me and told me if I didn't get to it to toss the whole project because she never wanted to look at them again ;)  I know the feeling...these little letters from this baby shower took me 2 hours each!

I decided to bag the yarn and spray paint the took me 5 minutes.  2 coats plus drying time.

Then I bought a lace table cloth from Goodwill, laid it on top of the letters and sprayed with white paint.  I quickly lifted the table cloth abracadabra style and voila!  The paint did get a little blurry in some spots so I suggest an assistant to help lift the lace.  I love the way they turned out and so much easier then yarn!
