herbs for your wedding

Thanks so much for following!

I've been in my garden this weekend.  Pulling things up mostly, but also dreaming about what I will be putting down once winter is over.  The year I was married it snowed on March 29th, so I think I'll give it a month before I plant anything.  The thing I can never plant enough of is herbs and tomatoes.  Mostly mint, basil, rosemary and a million cherry tomatoes because my dogs eat them straight off the vine.

There are so many great herb details for weddings out there.  I'd love to go to a wedding decorated with all herbs.  Could you imagine how great it would smell?  I'd be dancing with my head on a groomsman shoulder all night long ;)

Some herbs have their place in legends and mythology adding meaning to your wedding day.  In India, basil plants are sometimes grown in the homes of Hindus to bring the family happiness.  Rosemary is the herb of fidelity and remembrance. Rosemary has long been used in wedding ceremonies as an encouragement toward fidelity and to remind the new couple to remember their wedding vows, roots and families.

Greek legend has it that to learn the identity of your future spouse, you could sleep in the presence marjoram, and you would dream of your as-yet-unknown love. Wreaths of marjoram were used to crown newly married couples in ancient Greece and Rome to bring them love, honor and happiness.  It was similarly used in the Middle Ages, carried at weddings or displayed in bouquets

Herbs look so pretty... don't jump the gun about planting here. Mother's Day is the perfect time to start in our zone. It is always so hard for me to wait 'that long'... and Dori's cupcake yesterday was only frosting this time...hehe.
