diy wax luminaries

Forget glass votives, this is the perfect way to get a moody glow going at your reception.  All you need is parafin wax from the grocery store (in the canning aisle), balloons and an old pan to melt down your wax.  Fill your balloon with water to size, dip in melted wax to desired thickness, and pop the balloon.  See the full tutorial over at Dollar Store Crafts.

Wow these are gorgeous! I was worried about melting it w/a tea light, but I like the idea of putting sand on the bottom to avoid that. I'm bookmarking this -- any other ideas for DIY gifts for a friend? She's getting married and she and her fiance request handmade gifts, if not something from their registry...
