diy glittery champagne flutes

Tomorrow...December 30th, Ikea's champagne flutes are $.25 each!  You heard me!  If you're itching to do something festive for your NYE toasting check out these two lovely projects by Katie of The Bright Life and Jen of Something Turquoise.

You could outfit your whole wedding with sparkly glasses for under $100 if you're feeling particularly ambitious ;)

Have a safe and wonderful weekend
Happy New Year!!!

$.25....check it out!

say i do at midnight

I've always wanted to attend a guerrilla wedding.  That's where everyone shows up at an agreed upon location...no chairs...no aisle, just two people in love and their witnesses.  I had my chance once (well twice, I suppose I could've done it myself!) but I missed it.

If I were more spontaneous, I'd have a guerrilla wedding in Times Square as the ball dropped.  How romantic would that be?  I'd never forget that New Year's kiss.

I'd probably wear something like this too.  Of course I've never been to New York so I'd probably freeze, but that is what champagne is for right?

champagne jello shots

Alright, see you later Christmas...let's get ready to ring in 2012!  What are you doing for NYE this year, and more importantly...will there be champagne jello shots?

How pretty are these?

{these guys are actually butterbeer jello shots ;) via Rock UR Party}

  • 1 package white grape sparkling Jello mix (3 ounces)

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 cup chilled Champagne

  • Directions

    1. Combine the Jello and boiling water in a boil. Stir until completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Let set until it comes to room temperature. Slowly stir in the Champagne. Pour into 9x9 tray and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Once firm, dip the tray in hot water for 5 seconds. Use a thin knife to slice into squares.

         2. Sprinkle with colored sugar just before serving.

    monogram door hangings

You survived Christmas!  Are you sad it is over?  Me too.  My tree is still up though, and will be until after the New Year.  No use in chucking out a perfectly good tree.

Everyone seems to be packing away their decor for another year, but luckily most of my decor is year round (or else I just have hardly any decorations ;)  I think that's why I love this door monogram.  It could go from wedding chapel doors to holiday doors and you could dress it up anyway you like.

    You can purchase them here!

    Merry Christmas!

It's pretty quiet here this week, my apologies.  We had some home owner woes this weekend and I still haven't caught up.  Throw in my favorite holiday and you have one hot mess.  In order to keep spirits bright I'm cutting myself some slack and saying Merry Christmas to you early.  I have lots of shopping, wrapping and blog reading to do.  I'll be stopping by to say hello soon!

Hope you have a wonderful week and a very Merry Christmas!

    I'll see you next week!

    hip hideaways for honeymooning

If you're looking for a place for your destination wedding, a honeymoon or just a vacation, you should check out i-escape.  It's a site full of boutique hotels and hip hideaways and I want to visit every single one.  There are tons of search options, but my favorite is the "inspire me" tab and the chic and cheap option.  I could spend all day daydreaming on that site.

Check it out at i-escape, where would you go?

    groomsmen gift

This idea seen on Refinery 29 is perfect for a groomsmen gift, holiday gift...and I would definitely accept it as a bridesmaid gift too!

Find a nice fifth you think your friend would enjoy, buy a smart looking book at the thrift store and find an exacto knife.  Open the book (don't read it!) and cut the bottle shape out of the pages.  Place the bottle inside the book (don't taste it!) and wrap up.  Way better than a flask don't you think?  An inconspicuous way to sneak a little holiday cheer into the movies, concert or wedding ;)

    diy christmas tag escort cards

I have a stack of these tags left over from a baby shower and I think I might have to make some of these little guys for my Christmas gifts this year.  They would also be adorable as escort cards, don't you think?  You could hang them on a garland or a tree for guests to find.  In fact,  I would keep mine and hang it on my tree after your wedding ;)

flea market inspiration: vintage wedding gown

This weekend we went to the flea market for some Christmas inspiration.  I found more wedding inspiration than anything else, but the decorations were beautiful and very festive!

This wedding gown kept my attention for quite awhile.  I came back a few times to photograph it and to text it to a friend.  Isn't it pretty?  The vintage price for this beauty was $150!

    diy glitter bag favor

Oh my goodness, I am in a glitter mood today.  Wouldn't you love to take one of these little glitter bags home from a party?  If I were having a New Year's Eve wedding I'd whip up some of these...plus a few for stockings.  Heck I might wrap all my Christmas gifts in muslin glitter bags this year!

See the full tutorial from Hank and Hunt on The Sweetest Occasion.  (p.s.  these are both amazing blogs)

    cableknit sweater dress

Stephanie of Big Mario Life posted about this cute little dress the other day.  How perfect for an afternoon winter wedding!  I would put my bridesmaids in them and set them up near that table with the vintage thermos vases ;)

    dessert liqueur bar

There are bars for everything these days at weddings, but this might be my favorite yet.  So classy and luxe, a dessert liqueur bar for your guests.  Definitely don't leave out the rock candy sticks...some of those liqueurs need a little sweetening up.  Those are words of an amateur of course ;)  Do you have a favorite liqueur to enjoy after dinner?  My Dad drinks cognac and I like to steal a sip from him.

    vintage thermos vases

I spot vintage thermoses at the thrift store all the time.  I love to look at them, but have never had much of a use for them.  These ones are adorable filled with flowers and would look perfect perched on your hot chocolate bar.  You are having a hot chocolate bar right? ;)

    snowflake lanterns

Good morning, did you have a wonderful weekend?  I did too.  Saturday we went searching for our Christmas tree, and then went to dinner in the adorable town of Snoqualmie where they were having a little tree lighting celebration.

We walked past a florist shop and I saw these beautiful paper lanterns and I couldn't help but picture them hanging at the alter.  They were $65 each and I swore I would find them cheaper.

I did find them cheaper at Luna Baazar, but not by much!

Of course, you could DIY with these similar twirled snowflakes.
Perhaps make less cuts so it will hide the bulb?

    pink and mustard

I really love this combo.  I may need to buy it for myself.  What sort of shoes would you wear?  A subtle leopard print?  Is there such thing?

    12 days of christmas proposal

Happy December 1st!  I've already had my first Christmas cry (doesn't Christmas make everyone cry? ;).  This one was a good one though.  Check out this clever proposal and be prepared to get a little verklempt.  If you don't have 4 minutes to spare, skip to 2:40.  So sweet!

I need myself a choir boy.  Wait, that came out wrong...
